How a care request works

Fictional example

  1. What is needed, where and from when?

The care request assistant guides you through the details step by step. You do not enter the name of the person cared for.

  2. Who gets in touch?

Matching participating providers can respond to your request. Shown here are possible kinds of response, not real reactions.

    Interest
A provider would like to discuss the care with you.
    Question
A provider needs one more detail.
    Refusal
A provider cannot help this time.
  3. Clarify it directly with the provider

You clarify directly with the provider whether and how support is possible. An expression of interest is not yet a commitment to provide care.

Support at home

A home care service can help with daily care. Everyday support services take on tasks in the household or daily life, depending on their offer.

Good to know before you start

For relatives too: You can search on behalf of another person if you are entitled to do so. Guidance for relatives

No public patient search: A care request is not a public advertisement. The name, address and date of birth of the person cared for are not recorded. Data protection and process

Regional participation: Which providers take part differs from region to region. A directory entry does not mean free capacity. See the regional status

What would you like to know before you start?

Is the request really free of charge?

For private individuals, registration and the request are free of charge – no subscription and no fees. You agree the cost of the later care with the provider; possible benefits from the long-term care insurance fund are clarified there.

Can I search for my mother or father?

Yes, if you may act for that person – for example with a lasting power of attorney, as a legal guardian or because the person has expressly asked you to. You will find guidance on the page for relatives.

Do I need an account?

For your request to reach matching providers, you need a free account and confirm your email address. The care request assistant guides you through the necessary steps.

What happens if nobody responds?

A response is not guaranteed. If needed, also contact providers directly or use local care advice, for example a care support centre or your long-term care insurance fund.
