Find care in assisted living
In a flat with support services or a shared flat with outpatient care, a home care service provides the care. Describe what is needed and request matching providers.
Acceptance is not guaranteed – the home care service decides whether it takes on the visit.
The name alone is not enough
“Assisted living” does not automatically mean complete care. Check for each offer which services are agreed, which have to be organised in addition and what is possible if the need for support changes.
Shared forms of housing can also be organised very differently. What matters is the specific support, the housing and personal wishes, not just the name of the offer.
Pflege Patienten does not arrange flats or places in a shared flat. Landlords, operators or the shared flat itself decide on these. The platform helps you find a home care service for care where the person lives.
Looking at housing and support separately
The comparison helps you prepare conversations. It does not replace checking the individual offer or the contract documents.
Questions about the housing
How is the private area arranged? What opportunities for community are there? Which routes and contacts matter in everyday life?
Questions about the support
What is included? Who organises additional help? Which care can actually be offered? What is agreed separately?
Which questions would you like to clarify?
Personal priorities can differ. Discuss the wishes together with the person who lives or will live there, if possible.

How to proceed
Choose type of care and place
In the care request assistant you choose “Assisted living” and the place and see whether providers can be reached there.
Create an account
Free of charge, with your email address. Afterwards you describe the help needed with days and times.
Choose together
After your selection and the confirmation of both sides you agree the start directly with the home care service.
Housing costs, care costs and the platform
The costs of housing and of the later support are separate from the platform costs: registration and the request are free of charge; further services and possible funding are clarified separately.
Are you actually looking for permanent care in a care home?
If the main need is a permanent place in a facility, the page on care home places will help.
If another form fits better, you will find the home care service, short-term care, day and night care and out-of-hospital intensive care here.
Questions about assisted living
Can I use Pflege Patienten in an emergency?
No. Pflege Patienten is not an emergency or acute care service. In an emergency, call 112; outside surgery hours you can reach the medical on-call service on 116 117.
May I post a request for my mother or father?
Yes, if you are allowed to represent them – for example with a lasting power of attorney (Vorsorgevollmacht), as their legal guardian (rechtliche Betreuung) or because they have expressly asked you to. Being related does not in itself entitle you to pass on another person's health details. If the person can still take part in the decision, involve them. This website cannot judge whether a power of attorney is sufficient in an individual case.
Who sees my request?
Registered home care services and care providers whose service area covers the place you entered and whose offer fits the request. They see the details needed for matching – such as the type of care, place and approximate distance, start, services required and care level – but no name, no address and no date of birth. A care provider only sees your telephone number and email address once you have selected it.
Can I change or end my request?
Yes. In the portal you edit your request, drop services that are no longer needed or end the request, for example once you have arranged the care elsewhere. If no takeover has been agreed for any service after 14 days, the request is closed as 'not placed'; on day 11 you receive an advance warning.
