What the request can do
Out-of-hospital intensive care is usually prescribed by a doctor. Pflege Patienten replaces neither this decision nor medical advice or treatment.
The platform helps you share the care need as a starting point for responses. Whether a provider can take on the specific care professionally and organisationally is clarified directly with the professionals and organisations involved.
You clarify the requirements, necessary documents, the place of care and possible funding bodies separately in the intended professional procedure. If the hospital is already involved, ask there whether a request is running.

Here the actual offer and its suitability for the individual need must be clarified carefully. A similar name alone says nothing about suitable services.

After your selection and the confirmation of both sides you agree the transition directly with the provider.
What happens after the request
Matching participating providers can express interest or ask questions. Those involved then check in direct exchange whether and under which conditions care is possible. An expression of interest is not yet a commitment.
The cost of the later care and possible funding are clarified separately. The free request on the platform contains no decision on covering costs.
Other types of care
If no intensive care is needed, a home care service, a care home place, short-term care, day and night care or care in assisted living may fit.
Questions about intensive care
Can I use Pflege Patienten in an emergency?
No. Pflege Patienten is not an emergency or acute care service. In an emergency, call 112; outside surgery hours you can reach the medical on-call service on 116 117.
May I post a request for my mother or father?
Yes, if you are allowed to represent them – for example with a lasting power of attorney (Vorsorgevollmacht), as their legal guardian (rechtliche Betreuung) or because they have expressly asked you to. Being related does not in itself entitle you to pass on another person's health details. If the person can still take part in the decision, involve them. This website cannot judge whether a power of attorney is sufficient in an individual case.
Who sees my request?
Registered home care services and care providers whose service area covers the place you entered and whose offer fits the request. They see the details needed for matching – such as the type of care, place and approximate distance, start, services required and care level – but no name, no address and no date of birth. A care provider only sees your telephone number and email address once you have selected it.
Can I change or end my request?
Yes. In the portal you edit your request, drop services that are no longer needed or end the request, for example once you have arranged the care elsewhere. If no takeover has been agreed for any service after 14 days, the request is closed as 'not placed'; on day 11 you receive an advance warning.
